Newcastle United miss out on £15m transfer bargain as Celtic deal close

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Nicolas Kuhn is set to join Serie A side Como

Newcastle United transfer target Nicolas Kuhn is set to sign for Serie A side Como after a summer of speculation over his future.

The Magpies had been linked with a move for the 25-year-old forward who was available for around £15m.

However, Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that a deal to Cesc Fabregas’ Como is now all but done, with the Celtic boss delighted at the business.

Kuhn has caught the eye in Glasgow since signing from Rapid Vienna in January 2024 for just £3m, and scored against Bayern Munich in last season’s Champions League, going on to notch 21 goals in total for Celtic.

That led to interest from the Premeir League, with Newcastle said to have taken a look at the German. However Como are now close to announcing a deal, and Rodgers is satisfied with the move.
