Coventry City Confirm Loan Signing of Yang Min-Hyeok from Tottenham
Coventry City have confirmed the signing of highly rated winger Yang Min-Hyeok from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur on loan until the end of the season, bolstering their attacking options for the Championship run-in.
The 19-year-old South Korea international arrives at the Coventry Building Society Arena after spending the first half of the campaign on loan at Portsmouth, where he made a strong impression. Min-Hyeok scored three goals in 16 appearances, memorably netting a dramatic late winner against Charlton Athletic in December.
Min-Hyeok already has experience in the Championship, having previously enjoyed a loan spell at Queens Park Rangers, and brings with him a growing international profile, with two senior caps for South Korea.
The winger signed for Tottenham in July 2024 from Gangwon FC, before returning to the K League side to complete the 2024 season. That campaign proved to be a breakthrough year for Min-Hyeok, as he scored 12 goals to help Gangwon finish second in the league. His performances earned widespread recognition, including being named K League Young Player of the Year, while he also became the youngest player ever to win the division’s Player of the Month award.
Speaking after completing his move to the Sky Blues, Min-Hyeok expressed his excitement at the opportunity ahead.
“I’m very happy and excited to join a club with such strong traditions and history,” he said.
“When I played against Coventry, I really felt the positive atmosphere within the team, and that made me even more excited about becoming part of this club.
“The Head Coach explained very clearly how he plans to use me and how I could fit into the team, which gave me a lot of confidence that this is the right place for me.
“I want to help the team achieve its goal and to do that, I need to adapt as quickly as possible, show my qualities on the pitch, and prove why I am here.”
Coventry City will hope Min-Hyeok’s pace, creativity and eye for goal can provide a crucial spark as they push towards their ambitions in the second half of the season.
