Leeds United Tipped to Move for £25m England International After Major Transfer Recommendation
Leeds United have been urged to make a move for former England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as uncertainty continues to surround their goalkeeping situation ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Whites remain locked in discussions with Welsh goalkeeper Karl Darlow over a potential contract extension, with the club keen to retain the experienced shot-stopper for at least another year. However, doubts over Darlow’s future have emerged amid reports linking him with a surprise move to Manchester United, where he could provide experienced cover between the posts.
As a result, Leeds are actively assessing their options in the transfer market and are believed to be exploring several goalkeeper targets before the start of the campaign.
One player who has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road is Nick Pope of Newcastle United. However, interest from Ipswich Town has complicated the situation, while recent reports suggest Pope is no longer among Leeds’ primary targets.
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown believes Leeds should instead turn their attention to Ramsdale, who is expected to leave Southampton this summer after an underwhelming spell.

Brown argues that the 28-year-old remains a proven Premier League performer despite a difficult campaign and could provide the experience and quality Leeds need as they prepare for life back in the top flight.
Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said Leeds would be fully aware of Ramsdale’s availability and suggested the former England international could represent an attractive option if a deal for Pope fails to materialise.
“Leeds are in the market for a new goalkeeper, so they will be aware of his availability,” Brown explained.
“Ramsdale is expected to leave Southampton, and it’s obvious he won’t be staying at Newcastle, so a club like Leeds could be tempted to take a chance on him.
“He hasn’t had the best season. It felt like he never truly established himself, so he’ll be desperate for regular football.
“Not too long ago he was an England international, which shows the quality he possesses if given the opportunity.”
Ramsdale, once valued at around £25 million, has previously impressed in the Premier League with clubs including Arsenal and Southampton. His shot-stopping ability, leadership qualities, and top-flight experience could make him an appealing option for a Leeds side looking to strengthen multiple areas of the squad this summer.
While Brown stopped short of describing Ramsdale as an elite-level goalkeeper, he believes the England international would represent a significant upgrade on Leeds’ current options and could play a key role in helping Daniel Farke’s side establish themselves in the Premier League.
With Darlow’s future unresolved and uncertainty surrounding other targets, Ramsdale’s name is likely to remain firmly on Leeds United’s shortlist as the transfer window continues to gather momentum.
