Adams Nears Return as Bournemouth Receive Injury Boost Ahead of Everton Clash
Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams is closing in on a long-awaited return to action after resuming training with Andoni Iraola’s squad ahead of the Cherries’ Premier League trip to Everton.
The United States international has been sidelined since mid-December after suffering a knee injury just minutes into Bournemouth’s clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford. Prior to the setback, Adams had established himself as a crucial figure in Iraola’s midfield, playing a key role in the club’s campaign.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Merseyside, Iraola provided a positive update on Adams’ recovery while confirming there were no new injury concerns following Bournemouth’s recent draw with Aston Villa.
The Spanish manager admitted his main concern was ensuring players who featured in the Villa match had recovered fully.
“I’m more worried about the players that finished the other day,” Iraola said. “Let’s see if we can train with everyone today and have everyone ready to go again. We don’t have injury concerns, but it’s true that a lot of players finished with cramps and small issues that I hope are not serious.”
Iraola also highlighted the gradual return of David Brooks, who made a brief appearance in the previous match.
“Brooksy played a little bit the other day. He’s probably still not 100 percent, but it’s good that he can help us,” he added.
On Adams’ condition, Iraola suggested a return is getting closer, though the Everton match may come too soon.
“Tyler will train today. Maybe it’s early for tomorrow, but he’s getting closer,” the Bournemouth boss said.
Marcus Tavernier remains unavailable but is progressing in his recovery. According to Iraola, the winger is training individually and could return shortly after Adams, possibly around the upcoming fixture against West Ham.
With Bournemouth looking to maintain momentum in the league, the imminent return of Adams will be a welcome boost for Iraola’s side as they prepare for a challenging away test at Goodison Park.
