Simon Jordan has urged Frank Lampard to remain at Coventry City despite increasing interest from Premier League side Crystal Palace, as the Sky Blues close in on a historic return to the top flight.

Coventry are enjoying a sensational run under Lampard, winning eight of their last ten league matches and opening up a 12-point gap over third-placed Middlesbrough with just five games remaining. The club now stands on the verge of promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2001, potentially ending a 25-year absence.

After falling short in recent seasons — including a play-off final defeat in 2023 and a semi-final exit last year — Coventry look set to finally complete their long-awaited comeback.

Lampard, who took charge in November 2024, has received widespread praise for transforming the team’s fortunes. His side are also pushing to secure the Championship title, sitting comfortably ahead of Ipswich Town, who remain 12 points behind with two games in hand.

Jordan believes Lampard’s success will attract attention from top-flight clubs this summer, including Crystal Palace. However, he has called on the former England international to stay loyal to Coventry and continue the project he has started.

“We know that Frank Lampard can manage. He did well at Derby and has done remarkably well at Coventry, so he deserves a lot of credit,” Jordan said.

“There will be clubs looking at him, including Premier League sides. But I hope he stays with the job he was given and continues what he has built.”

Jordan also suggested that expectations in the Premier League could work in Lampard’s favour if Coventry go up, with many already predicting the club to struggle.

For now, Coventry fans will be hoping their manager resists any summer approach and leads them into a new era back in the top flight.
