Arsenal Explore Bruno Guimarães Deal as Newcastle Face Fresh Transfer Speculation
Arsenal have reportedly explored the possibility of signing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães, although no formal approach has been made to the Magpies.
According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal have not contacted Newcastle directly regarding the Brazilian international. However, it is understood that the potential framework of a deal has been discussed through intermediaries as the Gunners continue to assess midfield options ahead of the new season.
The 28-year-old remains one of Newcastle’s most influential players and is widely regarded as a key figure in the club’s long-term project. Guimarães is contracted until 2028, with Newcastle also holding the option to extend his stay by a further year, putting the Premier League side in a strong negotiating position.

Despite his long-term contract, speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future continues to grow. Reports suggest that Guimarães is open to leaving Newcastle this summer in pursuit of a new challenge, a development that has inevitably attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is believed to be keen on strengthening his midfield as the club prepares for another Premier League title challenge and a return to the UEFA Champions League. Guimarães’ technical quality, leadership and Premier League experience make him an attractive target.
However, Newcastle are expected to resist any attempts to prise away one of their star players. The club have consistently maintained that Guimarães is central to their ambitions and would likely demand a substantial transfer fee before considering any offers.
With no official negotiations currently underway, the situation remains at an exploratory stage. Arsenal’s interest is understood to be genuine, but any move would require significant progress in the coming weeks if a transfer is to materialise before the close of the summer window.
For now, Newcastle remain in control of the situation thanks to Guimarães’ long-term contract, but if the Brazilian is determined to seek a move elsewhere, this could become one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.
