Coventry City transfer close to completion as medical reportedly arranged
Coventry City appear to have reached a clear decision on the future of Norman Bassette, with reports suggesting the striker is closing in on a permanent move away from the club.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Bassette is on the brink of joining FC Kaiserslautern, with his current loan spell at Stade de Reims set to be cut short to facilitate the transfer. The report adds that the Belgian forward is scheduled to undergo a medical on Tuesday, with the deal described as effectively complete.
Bassette joined Coventry City from Caen in the summer of 2024 and featured 29 times during his debut season at the CBS Arena, scoring twice.

However, the 20-year-old struggled to cement a regular role and fell out of favour under Frank Lampard. He has not featured for the Sky Blues boss since April and has not started a Championship fixture for over a year, despite being under contract until 2028.
In search of regular first-team football, Bassette moved to Stade de Reims on a season-long loan at the start of September. While Reims are pushing for promotion and currently sit second in Ligue 2,

the striker’s involvement has been limited. He has scored twice in 13 appearances, making just six starts, with his last coming in October.
With Kaiserslautern now moving swiftly to secure his signature, Bassette’s time at Coventry City appears to be drawing to a close as the Sky Blues continue to reshape their attacking options ahead of the next phase of Lampard’s rebuild.
