Thomas Frank Loses It After Tottenham Defeat: “We Urgently Need VAR”
Tottenham Hotspur’s frustrations boiled over on Saturday as Spurs suffered a painful 2–1 home defeat to rivals West Ham United, sparking fury among supporters and a heated post-match reaction from Thomas Frank.
West Ham set the tone early in the London derby, taking the lead and immediately silencing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs struggled to impose themselves in the opening stages and were punished for their slow start by a more aggressive and organised Hammers side.
After the final whistle, Frank did not hide his anger, pointing to officiating decisions and demanding urgent improvements in the use of VAR.

“We urgently need VAR,” Frank said. “At this level, these moments must be checked properly. Games like this can be decided by one decision, and that’s not good enough.”
Although Tottenham managed to respond later in the match, West Ham struck again to regain control and seal the victory, leaving Spurs chasing the game with little reward for their efforts.

The result infuriated Spurs fans, who voiced their displeasure at full time. Boos rang around the stadium, with supporters directing their frustration at both the players and the coaching staff after another disappointing home loss.

West Ham fans, meanwhile, revelled in the win and did not miss the chance to mock their rivals. One chant circulating online read: “They built the most beautiful stadium in the world, but they’ve got no football IQ!”
The defeat piles more pressure on Tottenham, while West Ham walk away with bragging rights and a memorable derby win.
Full-time: Tottenham Hotspur 1–2 West Ham United.
