LEEDS UNITED AGREE PERSONAL TERMS WITH MOUSSA NIAKHATE AFTER AFCON FINAL DISPLAY

Leeds United have taken a significant step in strengthening their defence after agreeing personal terms with Lyon centre back Moussa Niakhate. The experienced defender has emerged as Leeds’ clear main target at centre back as the club looks to add quality and leadership to its back line.
Niakhate recently caught the eye on the international stage, earning a strong rating in the AFCON final as Senegal secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Morocco to lift the trophy. His composed and authoritative performance in defence further reinforced his reputation and attracted renewed interest from clubs across Europe.

Leeds have moved quickly, with a contract ready and the player’s agent keen on completing the switch to Elland Road. Negotiations are now ongoing with Lyon, who are demanding a club-record sale fee of around €65 million. Leeds’ current bid is understood to be below that valuation, but talks remain active as both sides work toward a possible agreement.

The Whites’ intent is clear. A mission to England has already taken place, underlining Leeds United’s determination to push the deal forward and reach a breakthrough in the coming days.
Should the transfer be completed, Niakhate would arrive as a major statement signing, bringing AFCON-winning pedigree and top-level experience to Daniel Farke’s squad. A move straight from continental glory to Elland Road could soon become reality as Leeds continue their push to reinforce ahead of the challenges to come. ⚪️
