Fabian Hürzeler did not hold back as he voiced his frustration following a disappointing run of results, calling out a pivotal player after Brighton’s late setback against Everton and making it clear he will not tolerate the same mistakes again.
Brighton looked on course for a vital victory on Saturday evening, taking the lead against Everton before conceding a 90th-minute equaliser that left the head coach visibly angry. The frustration was compounded by the club’s 1–1 draw to Everton, leaving Hürzeler deeply unhappy with his side’s recent performances.
️ “Talent isn’t enough if defeats keep coming,” Hürzeler said bluntly.
️ “This game has to end in a win. I’m taking no chances this time.”

The Brighton boss’ comments were widely seen as a direct message to a key player whose errors have cost the team dearly in crucial moments. Hürzeler went even further, warning that such lapses are often what cost dedicated managers their jobs.
️ “Players like this are the reason why hardworking coaches lose their jobs,” he added. “I have built a high reputation for this club, and I won’t allow the same mistake again.”
With January deadline day fast approaching, Hürzeler confirmed he is already planning decisive action in the transfer market as he looks to reinforce his squad.

️ “I need to make a decision on how to bring in two players before the January transfer window closes,” he stated, hinting at changes aimed at preventing late collapses and improving consistency.
After surrendering a late equaliser against Everton , the message from Hürzeler is clear: standards must rise immediately — or tough decisions will follow.
