For Dylan Milner, being a Bournemouth supporter has always been a way of life.
A season ticket holder since 2008, he has followed the club home and away, through promotions, relegation fights, and some of the most dramatic years in the club’s history. But while the action on the pitch has been intense, nothing compares to the battle he has faced off it.
“I had 48 shocks over 14 hours. I wanted to give up,” Dylan said. “But I am here.”
Over the last decade, Dylan’s life has been dominated by serious heart problems. In 2016, he suffered a cardiac arrest. Since then, he has endured multiple episodes — including four cardiac arrests during one terrifying period.

But the truth is far from light-hearted.
During one of his most critical moments, doctors had to deliver 48 defibrillator shocks within 14 hours to keep him alive. Each shock was a fight to restart his heart. Each minute was a battle between life and death.
February is National Heart Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about heart health. As part of that awareness, Dylan shared his powerful story — not just as a football fan, but as a survivor.
Through hospital stays, fear, and moments where he felt like giving up, football remained a constant in his life. Watching his team, following results, and holding onto matchday routines gave him something to focus on during the darkest days.
“I wanted to give up,” he repeated. “But I’m still here.”
