Coventry City have officially confirmed their retained and released list ahead of the summer transfer window, with long-serving midfielder Jamie Allen among those set to leave the club.

The 31-year-old’s departure signals the end of a notable chapter at the CBS Arena, where he has been a consistent figure since playing a key role in Coventry’s promotion from League One in 2020. Over the years, Allen established himself as a reliable squad member during the club’s consolidation in the Championship.

However, his role has diminished under head coach Frank Lampard, with the midfielder

gradually slipping down the pecking order. While still trusted to feature in matches, Allen has largely been limited to substitute appearances in recent months, often coming on late in games as Coventry push for a place in the Premier League.

Allen last signed a contract extension in April 2023, which initially ran until the summer of 2025 and included an option for a further year. Although that extension clause was activated, the club has now confirmed that his deal will expire in June, bringing his time with the Sky Blues to a close.

Despite reduced minutes, Allen has remained a respected presence within the squad, offering experience and composure during a crucial period for the club. His professionalism has been evident even as his starting opportunities became increasingly scarce.
