The Senegal international continued his remarkable run of form during Palace’s clash against Everton, once again proving why he has become one of the most talked-about forwards in Europe this season. The 28-year-old entered the contest fresh from helping Oliver Glasner’s side reach the 2025-26 UEFA Conference League final, extending his incredible scoring streak in Europe with a goal in Palace’s 2-1 semi-final second-leg victory over FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

Sarr’s European form has been nothing short of sensational. He has now scored nine goals in the Conference League campaign, outperforming his Premier League tally while becoming a central figure in Glasner’s attacking system. Despite his stronger numbers in Europe, the forward has still produced consistently in domestic competition and arrived into Sunday’s meeting with Everton on seven league goals.

However, that tally soon increased after another decisive moment against the Toffees.

Everton initially looked set to take control after defender James Tarkowski fired David Moyes’s side into the lead. But Palace responded with intensity, and Sarr once again delivered when it mattered most.

The equaliser came after a sharp combination on the right flank with Daniel Muñoz. Sarr’s first effort was blocked inside the box, but the rebound kindly fell back into his path, allowing the attacker to smash home emphatically and bring Palace level.

The goal immediately sparked huge celebrations among Palace supporters, many of whom have rallied behind Sarr during his outstanding campaign. Yet what truly caught attention online was Ferguson’s glowing praise for the Palace forward despite his legendary connection to Everton.

The former Everton striker reportedly hailed Sarr’s movement, composure and relentless attacking threat, comments that did not go down well with sections of the Everton fanbase on social media. Many supporters were left frustrated seeing one of their most iconic figures applauding the opposition star moments after Everton had surrendered their lead.

For Palace fans though, the admiration only reinforced the belief that Sarr is enjoying the best season of his career. With the Eagles now preparing for a historic European final and still pushing strongly in the Premier League, the Senegalese forward continues to establish himself as one of the most influential players in English football this season.
