Jakov Medic Admits Sadness Over Marcelino Nunez Exit to Ipswich

Former teammate Jakov Medic has opened up emotionally about the departure of Marcelino Nunez, admitting he was “really sad” to see the midfielder leave Norwich City for rivals Ipswich Town.

Speaking about Nunez’s move, Medic revealed he had always believed the Chilean international was destined to become one of Norwich’s most important players and potentially help deliver silverware to Carrow Road.

“I’ve always said, Marcelino was a player to stay in Norwich and win trophy for Norwich,” Medic said. “I was really SAD when he chose to go Ipswich.”

The defender’s comments will resonate strongly with Norwich supporters, many of whom saw Nunez as a key figure for the club’s future. Since arriving in England, the talented midfielder had earned praise for his technical ability, composure in possession, and creativity in midfield.

Medic also admitted he always believed Nunez perfectly matched Norwich’s style and identity.

“I always thought he would be a PERFECT fit for our club,” he added.

The transfer to Ipswich has already sparked major debate among fans due to the fierce rivalry between the two East Anglian clubs. While Ipswich supporters are excited about what Nunez could bring to their squad, Norwich fans remain disappointed to see one of their most gifted players strengthen a direct rival.

Despite the emotional reaction, Medic’s comments also underline the respect and admiration Nunez earned during his time at Norwich, with many still convinced he had the potential to become a club icon had he stayed.
