Jude Bellingham Breaks Silence On England Absence Against Croatia As Thomas Tuchel Addresses The Situation…

Jude Bellingham has once again become one of the biggest talking points around the England camp ahead of the Three Lions’ Nations League meeting with Croatia, with questions surrounding his role and whether he will return to the starting lineup.

The Real Madrid midfielder was left out of England’s starting XI for the 2-0 victory over Czechia, a decision that immediately attracted attention given Bellingham’s importance to the national team.

Now, with England preparing for another difficult test against Croatia, the situation surrounding the 22-year-old has taken another turn.

Bellingham remains part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans, but the England manager has shown that he is willing to use the midfielder differently depending on the opposition and the needs of the team.

England’s official squad announcement confirmed Bellingham’s inclusion in Tuchel’s 27-man group for the September-October international window, alongside Real Madrid teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, being selected for the squad has not guaranteed Bellingham an automatic starting position.

That was demonstrated against Czechia, when Tuchel opted for a different midfield setup before later introducing Bellingham into the contest.

The decision has raised plenty of discussion among supporters, particularly because Bellingham has established himself as one of England’s most recognisable players.

But Tuchel has also made it clear that he wants competition for places within his squad.

Rather than relying solely on reputation, the England boss has repeatedly spoken about selecting players according to the demands of individual matches.

That approach could explain why Bellingham’s role has become more flexible.

Interestingly, Tuchel has recently discussed the possibility of using Bellingham further forward.

The England manager revealed that he likes the midfielder as a potential No. 9 option, particularly because of his ability to arrive in dangerous areas and contribute goals.

Bellingham has already demonstrated those qualities for both club and country.

During England’s 4-2 World Cup victory over Croatia in June, he scored after half-time as Tuchel’s side produced a much stronger second-half performance. Bellingham later praised the team’s response and explained how the manager’s half-time message helped change the momentum of the match.

That history makes the upcoming Croatia fixture particularly interesting.

England are facing the same opponent again, this time in the UEFA Nations League, and Bellingham could have an important role to play.

The midfielder has already experienced success against Croatia under Tuchel, but the circumstances are now different.

England enter the match after beating Czechia 2-0 following their 3-2 defeat to Spain in their opening Nations League fixture. The result against Czechia provided a much-needed response, but Tuchel’s side still have several selection questions to answer.

The Croatia game will also be played behind closed doors in Rijeka following UEFA disciplinary action connected to previous crowd trouble.

For Bellingham, the key issue is not simply whether he starts.

It is how Tuchel intends to use him.

The England manager has already demonstrated that he sees Bellingham as more than a traditional central midfielder. His ability to operate between midfield and attack gives England another tactical option, particularly when Harry Kane needs support or when the team requires an additional goal threat.

Against Czechia, Bellingham was also used in a more advanced position after Kane was substituted, reinforcing Tuchel’s belief that the Real Madrid star can contribute in different areas of the pitch.

That versatility could become particularly important against Croatia.

England have several players capable of creating chances, including Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon and Kane, but Bellingham offers something different because of his ability to carry the ball, arrive late in the box and operate in attacking spaces.

Tuchel therefore has a major decision to make.

He can restore Bellingham to the midfield, continue experimenting with him further forward, or use him from the bench depending on how the match develops.

Whatever happens, the decision will attract enormous attention.

Bellingham has become one of the faces of English football, and every decision involving him is closely examined.

Yet the current situation does not necessarily mean there is a problem between the player and manager.

Instead, the evidence points towards Tuchel attempting to build a squad with multiple tactical solutions.

The England boss has previously rejected suggestions that players or clubs should dictate how often his footballers participate during international duty, stressing the importance of consistency and responsibility.

That philosophy could also apply to Bellingham.

Rather than guaranteeing him a starting position because of his status, Tuchel appears prepared to make decisions based on the specific circumstances of each game.

For England supporters, the Croatia match will therefore provide another opportunity to see how the relationship between player and manager develops.

Bellingham remains firmly within Tuchel’s plans, but his exact position is becoming increasingly intriguing.

Whether he starts in midfield, moves into an attacking role or makes an impact from the bench, his presence gives England another major weapon.

And with Croatia standing in England’s way again, all eyes will be on Tuchel’s team sheet when it is officially confirmed.

One thing is already clear: Bellingham’s absence from the starting lineup against Czechia has created a major conversation, but his place in England’s wider plans does not appear to have disappeared.

Instead, Tuchel may simply be preparing to use one of his most talented players in a completely different way.
