Tottenham Offer Young Star in Swap Deal for West Ham Midfielder Mateus Fernandes

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly explored an eye-catching swap deal as they step up their pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes, offering one of their promising youngsters as part of negotiations.

Fernandes has become one of the hottest names in the transfer market following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League. The Hammers endured a disappointing campaign, finishing 18th and falling just two points short of Tottenham in the battle to avoid the drop.

Despite the club’s struggles, the 21-year-old midfielder was one of the few bright spots. After arriving from Southampton in a reported £38 million move last summer, Fernandes impressed with three goals and four assists in 36 appearances, establishing himself as a key figure at the London Stadium.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with both Tottenham and Manchester United monitoring the Portuguese midfielder closely ahead of the new season.

According to reports, Spurs have attempted to strengthen their position by offering highly-rated youngster Mikey Moore as part of a potential deal for Fernandes.

The North London club view Fernandes as a player capable of adding energy, creativity and technical quality to Thomas Frank’s midfield, but convincing West Ham to sell remains a difficult task.

While Moore is regarded as one of England’s brightest teenage talents, West Ham are believed to value Fernandes highly despite their relegation and are expected to demand a significant fee if they are to consider any offers.

Manchester United’s interest also means Tottenham could face stiff competition, with the race for Fernandes expected to intensify as the transfer window progresses.

For now, no agreement has been reached between the clubs, but Tottenham’s willingness to include one of their most exciting academy prospects underlines just how highly they rate the West Ham midfielder.

With West Ham preparing for life in the Championship and several top-flight clubs circling, Mateus Fernandes’ future is shaping up to be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.
