Nottingham Forest Reach Reported Agreement for Granit Xhaka in Stunning Transfer Twist
Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on one of the most surprising transfers of the summer after reaching an agreement with Sunderland AFC over a potential deal involving England international Granit Xhaka.
According to emerging reports, negotiations have accelerated significantly over the past few days, with all parties said to be optimistic that the move can be completed in the coming days. While the transfer has yet to be officially confirmed, the latest developments have sparked widespread discussion among supporters and pundits alike.
The reported agreement has come as a major shock across English football. Few expected Xhaka’s name to be linked with either Nottingham Forest or Sunderland this summer, making the story one of the most talked-about rumours of the current transfer window.
If the deal is finalised, Forest would secure a player with vast experience at both domestic and international level. Xhaka has built a reputation as a commanding midfielder, known for his leadership, passing range and ability to dictate the tempo of matches. His arrival would represent a significant statement of intent from the City Ground hierarchy as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign.
For Sunderland, agreeing to such a deal would mark another major moment in what has already been a busy transfer window. The Black Cats have been heavily involved in several high-profile negotiations this summer, and this reported agreement would add another remarkable chapter to their recruitment activity.
Supporters have reacted with disbelief across social media, with many questioning how such an unexpected transfer emerged so quickly. Others believe Xhaka’s experience could prove invaluable for Forest, providing leadership in midfield and helping the club achieve its ambitions next season.
Despite the growing speculation, neither Nottingham Forest nor Sunderland have issued an official statement regarding the reported agreement. Personal terms, medical examinations and final paperwork are also believed to remain outstanding before any deal can be considered complete.
As things stand, the transfer remains at the report stage, and fans will now be eagerly awaiting further updates to see whether one of the most unexpected moves of the summer window becomes reality.
Should the transfer go through, it would undoubtedly rank among the biggest surprises of the current market and could have a significant impact on both clubs heading into the new season.
